This does look cool, but I think NM is a cool enough place on its own that it does not need to resort to "balloon fiesta" as a tourism draw. Bah. I am boycotting the balloon fiesta until my child can ask for it by name. Bah! I am especially boycotting balloon having NM license plates. Bah!!!!
Tim's question makes me realize that I crossed an invisible border into bike subculture in posting the pink bike photo. Someday maybe I'll do a post on the bicycle culture wars.
For now I'll just say that, since this bike doesn't coast, it can be stopped by reverse pressure on the pedals (and you can also ride it backwards, which one has to admit is pretty neato). A hand brake is a more effective way of stopping, though, and the less reckless fixed gear riders set theirs up with a brake.

We're looking forward to teaching your child to say "fiesta"
Ok, sounds like a deal then! Thanks pals.
Question from a guy who knows nothing about bikes: Why would the owner of the pink bike not want brakes?
